Yoga Programs for Young Cambodians

In collaboration with Isabelle Skaburskis, Director of Nataraj Yoga Center and Kramma Yoga Cambodia, AZAHAR Foundation has developed a vocational program for young Cambodians from challenging backgrounds. Originating from Kien Khleang orphanage in Phnom Penh, the purpose of the program is to support orphaned children and adolescents with an interest in yoga through a holistic approach that also includes culturally appropriate education in health, life skills, and social development. Basic needs such as food, clothing, and schooling are included. Because literacy in English is necessary for yoga teacher training, English tutoring is provided to select students.

Young people supported through this program are already becoming leaders within their own communities—AZAHAR's goal is to give these youth leaders an opportunity to participate in international exchange programs, fostering our mission of cross-cultural communication and non-violent conflict resolution through yoga and the arts.

AZAHAR Foundation has also worked in Colombia, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Morocco, Turkey, and Mexico.
